Are you or someone you care about feeling depressed, overwhelmed by life crises, or considering suicide? Or have you recently lost a loved one?
Our supportive counselors answer the county's only Suicide Prevention & Crisis Hotline 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, volunteer grief counselors provide in-person grief counseling for Marin residents with fees based on a sliding scale.
Most people do not want to die - they just want to end the pain they are experiencing. Suicidal crises tend to be brief. When suicidal behavior is detected early, a life can be saved.
There is hope…we can help.
Family Service Agency of Marin (FSA) has contracted with the California Mental Health Services Agency (CalMHSA) to coordinate the North Bay Suicide Prevention Project, expanding the Suicide Prevention and Community Counseling Hotline in Marin to five additional North Bay counties. The Suicide Prevention and Community Counseling Program (SP&CC) is a program of FSA of Marin.
The NBSP project is a 3 year contract with CalMHSA that is being funded with Prop 63 dollars. We are expanding our accredited, locally responsive Crisis Hotline services in Marin to five additional North Bay counties.
By 2014, North Bay residents will have access to immediate, confidential, high quality and effective 24/7 Suicide Prevention Hotline services provided by lead agency Family Service Agency of Marin in collaboration with the six North Bay county governments. The North Bay counties will have their own local 1-800 toll free number.
We are establishing relationships with emergency services personnel in all 5 North Bay counties and setting up local suicide prevention committees in all 6 counties, including Marin.
Our Hotline counselors will start taking National Lifeline calls for Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake counties on January 1, 2012.
