WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT VOLUNTEERING

Training and volunteering with the Suicide Prevention and Community Counseling (SP&CC) 24-hour suicide hotline and grief counseling programs gave me the opportunity to explore my capabilities and interests in helping others in crisis and grief during my undergraduate program in psychology. The insight and education I gained from my volunteer experience fanned my interest in clinical psychology, which lead to my current pre-doctoral practicum trainee position on the SP&CC team. I’m proud of the service I’ve provided to the community—a direct result of the excellent training and caring guidance I’ve received from SP&CC and staff and volunteers!

As a Parent Aide for FSA’s Parent Aide Program, I visit with my family weekly, offering support and strengthening their parent-child relationship. I’m grateful to say, that in the process, I’ve become a better parent to my own child as well.

I am extremely grateful to everyone I have met here. I have never experienced such a warm and welcoming environment until I started coming here. My life has changed. I hope I have in some small way helped out. I have been helped out and for that I am forever in your debt.
