Report from the Front Lines: Stories of Lived Experience from our Community Mental Health Service Heroes

Since 2017, Sonoma County has been impacted by fires, floods and a pandemic. Our front-line community behavioral health staff have responded to the ongoing challenges alongside our community members. New behavioral health needs surface with each disaster. Our community is struggling: losing jobs and/or their homes for the first time; not having enough food; grieving the loss of loved ones due to these disasters and of the lives we all previously had. When disaster happens the entire system moves to meet the needs of our community. Front-line peer and community health workers along with each of us have rolled with and responded to the challenges we face as a community. In this program, we will hear from some of our front-line teams on how we continue to move through the waves that keep on coming. We are honored to bring stories from West County Community Services, Humanidad Education and Therapy Services, Buckelew Programs, Center for Well-Being and National Alliance on Mental Illness. Join us. You will not want to miss these stories.

About this Event

Sonoma Community Resilience Collaborative: Finding CALM Amidst the Storm

Through evacuations, fires, planned power shut-offs, other life stressors, and now a global pandemic, it is important to take care of our well-being and connect with others. Our vision, to embed and sustain mind-body tools in our community, starts with individuals. These tools have been around for centuries and can be used anywhere, anytime, regardless of the situation, whether it be a presentation at school, an interview for a job, dealing with tantrums or even preparing for surgery.

Join our trained facilitators and experience the CALM amidst the storm. Together we will build our inner resilience.

About Sonoma Community Resilience Collaborative
The Sonoma Community Resilience Collaborative is a community-wide initiative launched after the 2017 wildfires to support long-term resilience and social connection across Sonoma County. Our vision is to prevent the progression of stress and trauma effects from becoming more serious behavioral, physical and social impacts in our community through an evidence-based train-the-trainer model taught by our partner, Center of Mind-Body Medicine.
The Collaborative has trained over 200 community members to spread and embed mind-body techniques in our community. Please visit socoresilience.org to learn more!
